Lindsay Edwards has always had the feeling that she stands out from the crowd. And that’s exactly why the Canadian identifies so strongly with her dream car, the Mercedes-AMG G 63.

Lindsay’s story is one of resilience and strength. It’s about what it is we want from this life. About being able to stand out and not having to fit in everywhere to achieve our goals and be happy.

(Un)Conventional

What is “normal” anyway?

Lindsay Edwards is 31 years old, lives in a house in Brandon, Canada, owns two horses, a dog, and a cat, and has been engaged since 2022. Doesn’t sound particularly extraordinary at first, does it? And yet, Lindsay has always had the feeling that she stands out a little from the crowd.

A dual passion

Enthusiasm for horsepower.

Born in Canada, she grew up on a farm in an agricultural area with a population of 50,000. A fascination with cars has always played a major role in her family, so it’s hardly surprising that Lindsay also developed an interest in another kind of horsepower alongside her passion for equestrian sports. Unlike her family, however, this enthusiasm was not limited to the American market, but spilled over to faraway Graz at an early age. And since her childhood, she has simply not let go of her fascination with the iconic off-road vehicle.

There are many parallels between riding horses and driving the G-Class: they both evoke the same feeling in me — a feeling of freedom and strength.

In the society she grew up in, there were very specific ideas about what hobbies women should have, what kind of profession they should pursue. Lindsay, however, sometimes found it difficult to identify with all these expectations. Maybe that’s why she felt at the time that she was somehow a little different from the people around her. She was not an outsider — on the contrary: she always had many good friends. Her interests were simply different from those of the other children, and to others, they also didn’t seem to fit together very well: “Many friends my age had pictures of popstars hanging in their rooms. I had horse-themed prints next to pictures of the G-Class on my bedroom walls.”

One of the few

A motivating challenge.

After finishing college, she decided to work in a male-dominated industry and took a job as an environmental officer for an energy and infrastructure provider. The job combines several things that Lindsay enjoys — such as large machines and working outdoors. She openly admits that working as one of the few women in a male-dominated industry can also be tough, but Lindsay loves the challenge and feels that it motivates her and keeps her on her toes.

The G-Class surprises people. It’s just so different. It stands out. That’s why I can identify so much with this car. I also stand out because I’m a bit different from everyone else here.
