Stuttgart. For the fourth time in a row, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has won the "Best Cars" readers' poll conducted by the trade journal "Auto Motor und Sport". An 11.1 per cent share of the vote once again resulted in first place in the large SUV/off-road vehicle category. In the luxury class, the S-Class won with 13.2 per cent of the vote. Dr. Emmerich Schiller, Head of the Off-Road Vehicle Product Division, and Jürgen Weissinger, Chief Engineer of the S-Class, accepted the awards.
For the 44th time, the readers of "Auto Motor und Sport" voted for the "Best Cars" in Germany. A total of 387 models were on the ballot in eleven categories. Exactly 102,974 car fans took part this time, online or by postcard. The awards ceremony took place today at a gala event in the International Congress Center Stuttgart (ICS).
Dr. Emmerich Schiller heads the Off-Road Vehicle Product Division
Dr. Emmerich Schiller took over as Head of the Off-Road Vehicle Product Division and as Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz G GmbH in Graz, Austria in December 1, 2019. In his role, he is responsible for the strategic alignment of all G-Class activities, including product management, sales, marketing, development, and production.
The 53-year-old, who holds a doctorate in industrial engineering, has held various specialist and management positions at Daimler AG for more than 20 years, including in the areas of operations, engineering, purchasing, logistics, quality management, and after sales. Most recently, he was a member of the management board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, based in Affalterbach. Schiller succeeds Dr. Gunnar Güthenke, who took over as Head of Purchasing and Supplier Quality Mercedes-Benz Cars in July 2019.
